Summary
In Chapter 5, Jim wakes at the edge of a spring-fed lake, spitting out dirt. He sees Jenny nearby, and Garth is soon standing over him. His first question to Garth is whether they are dead. He sees a spring bubbling up nearby and wonders if they came up through that spring. The countryside seems more like a jungle than the town of Cody. Garth believes they are having a vision. Jim points out they are having the same vision. Immediately, Garth relates an example of a shared vision between Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon. Jenny wakes and vomits water. Garth evaluates his backpack. A waterproof flashlight and some matches in a plastic box survive. The food and other supplies are ruined. Though Jim hates coconuts, hunger drives him to eat some with Garth and Jenny. They find several abandoned huts and take refuge...
