Summary
T.J. notices smudge marks where the radio was located, as if someone removed it recently. That dashes another one of their hopes for communication with the outside world. There are no keys in the boat either. Meg asks T.J. if he can hot-wire it, and they get in an argument over whether he looks like the type of person who could "hot-wire" a boat. His pessimism is weighing on Meg and she separates to search for the keys. There's a closet in the boathouse, but it's empty. Meg finds a stain of red, ring-shaped, on the ground. It is red paint that is still wet. It looks like the same paint that was used for those slash marks on the wall.
On the way back to the house, T.J. is quiet. He is still angry with her about their argument...
