Summary

In the opening of Chapter 4, as Meg runs across the footbridge elatedly with T.J. following after, Meg thinks about how happy she is T.J. still wants to be friends. After what happened at Homecoming, she was not sure he would. Meg reflects on what happened the night of Homecoming. When Minnie found out T.J. had asked Meg, she flew into a rage. Meg had never seen her like that, and she decided her friendship was more important than a boy. She told T.J. the day of the dance that she could not go, and they have not really spoken since.

T.J. and Meg climb up the stairs that lead from the beach to the house. The reach the top and see White Rock House, the Lawrence's vacation home, where they will be staying for the weekend. It shimmers...
