Summary
In Chapter 7 “Scream” Pearl is assigned to a private client, Calla Pax, a young film celebrity. She runs daily contentment plans for her. Although Calla does not trust therapists, her producer insists on checking her mental stability. Pearl is to stay at Calla’s home for the duration of the individual program. She is able to take this live-in assignment because Rhett is now at UC Davis. Upon arrival, Pearl sees the wealth of the villa and muses on how Apricity is available only to rich clientele. She calls Rhett from Calla’s villa, and Rhett informs her that Calla is a well-known actress in the horror movie genre and that she has a distinctive scream. Pearl further finds that Calla survives only 20% of the time in the movies she stars in, and that there is widespread betting as to whether her character...
