Summary

At the beginning of Chapter 10, Jessie applies for a job at Starbucks only to be rejected out-of-hand for lack of experience. Several other businesses also deny her application until she finds a bookstore called Book Out Below! run by the mother of a senior at Wood Valley, Liam Sandler. Liam’s mother tells Jessie that if Liam wants to give up some of his hours, she can have them. As she leaves the store, Liam enters and hits Jessie in the head with his guitar case, sending her to the floor. Feeling guilty, he allows Jessie to take some of his shifts. Back at home, Jessie tells Theo she got a job, but does not tell Rachel when she asks.
