Summary
A photo and description of Christian de la Maziere was sent out to all of the Nicaro nickel mine employees to warn them that he was a known revolutionary agitator to watch out for among their employees. Everly thought he looked dashing, and wondered what it meant that he was “given to frequenting low resort” (151). She was eleven now, and curious about sex. Her older sister Stevie was dating a Cuban boy named Tico Leal, and Pamela Carrington was often off with her own local beau. At night, Everly thought of La Maziere, wishing he would come to Nicaro.
