Summary
The fifth chapter is titled “The Birthday Bash.” The dentist declares nothing is to be done about Fudge's teeth and that new ones will grow in a few years. Peter begins to think that his remaining teeth, without the two middle teeth, look like fangs. Peter calls Fudge Fang until Mrs. Hatcher makes him stop, saying it is an insult. Peter stops using the name around his mother but still thinks of Fudge as “Fang.” When Fudge is turning three, Mrs. Hatcher invites three other kids from the building to have a birthday party for Fudge. Peter wants to go out with Jimmy but Mrs. Hatcher asks him to help. Grandma arrives to help as well. Mr. Hatcher has to work. The party is to last from one until two-thirty. Fudge has a new suit for the party but...
