Chapter 47 Summary

Weather conditions continue to worsen during the day as the settlements prepare for the storm. Since the wind is from the north, there are discussions as to whether or not the storm is a typhoon. Dirk is inclined to agree with them since the barometer doesn't fall. Dirk moves May-may and the others to the third floor of the factory in Happy Valley because the buildings are stronger and better able to withstand the storm.

The Brock family is staying on the White Witch. Tyler isn't feeling well and wants to get drunk but knows that he can't because of the danger of the storm. It rains all night but none of the ships are threatened by the sea. Dirk also awakens and checks the weather. He goes to the Harbor Master's office to check on Culum and Tess. They are at church...
