Chapter 45 Summary

The White Witch arrives in Hong Kong damaged. They had been caught in a squall. Culum tries to talk with Brock but he tells him to get off of the ship. Culum follows him below and goes to Tess, while Brock is confronting Liza about the marriage. She tells him that Gorth brought on the challenge of the duel with the Tai-Pan. He had attacked Dirk and also Liza, who show Brock her bruises. She begs Brock to accept Culum as Tess's husband.

Tyler tells Tess to say goodbye to her mother and that she and Culum are out of their lives. Brock tells Culum that his agreement for safe harbor only applied if they abided by the agreement to the three month period.
