Chapter 31 Summary

China Cloud sails that afternoon. They sail for four days and then return to Hong Kong. As they enter the harbor Dirk sees a sign from Resting Cloud that he is to come there immediately. The harbor is packed with ships, including one flying the Russian flag. When he reaches the Resting Cloud, he finds the signal was ordered by Culum, who is ashore. Culum arrives. Since it is the day of the land sale, they look over a map of the lots and Culum tells him which ones he and Brock had decided on. Culum explains whom he consulted with and why he made the selections that he made. Culum says he talked over his selections with Tess.
