Chapter 24 Summary

Dirk returns to the ball where they are waiting on the ball gown contest. Culum tells him that Sarah has gone into labor and there are problems. Robb had left with Liza Brock who went to see if she could help. Dirk has a brandy to settle himself. Just as the ball gown contest is to take place, Maureen Quance walks in. She confronts her husband, Aristotle, and leaves with him. The Russian volunteers to judge the contest for them. He selects Tess Brock.
