Chapter 13 Summary
The weather indicates the beginning of the monsoon season. Brock can't sleep as he is worrying about the bullion. His wife Liza announces that she is sailing for Macao the next day to order the ball gowns and other items that she and her daughter need for the Struan's ball. He does not take it well when Liza tells him that they should start considering a mate for Tess, their sixteen-year-old daughter. Liza silently thinks of the available bachelors and who would be a good match for Tess.
