Summary
“Eve in Hollywood” begins on a train headed from Chicago to Los Angeles, where a retired police officer named Charlie Granger takes note of an interesting passenger on the train, a woman with a scar across her face who appears to decide to travel to Los Angeles on a whim. By chance, Charlie ends up speaking with the woman, who introduces herself as Evelyn Ross and takes an immediate liking to him. After parting ways with Charlie once the train arrives in Los Angeles, Evelyn books a room at the Beverly Hills Hotel and makes the acquaintance of an overweight man named Prentice Symmons who used to be a star in Hollywood.
