Chapter 11

Ian is dreaming of how the money from Seth’s will can help him pay off many of his business debts when he gets the call from the lawyers about the new will. Herschel hears the news as he dreams of the new car he will buy with the money. Lettie visits Jake’s office and learns the details of the new will for the first time. Lettie is shocked because she had no idea how much Seth had left her. Jake cautions Lettie about getting a lawyer. Later, Jake speaks with the local reporter, Dumas Lee, trying to brush him off as questions about the will come up. Then Lucien shows up, making Jake nervous as he is afraid Lucien plans to retake the bar and return to the law.
