Chapters 8-10 Summary

Richard and Alec go to Rosalie's Tavern to find out who has been asking after Richard. Apparently Hugo Seville, who is one of Richard's rival swordsmen for hire, has been trying to take the job that is being offered to Richard. Although Hugo has been known to pimp for Ginnie, they claim that actually she manages his swordfighting career for him. Alec insults Hugo, who leaves before he can get in a fight with Richard, because Hugo is a coward, and no one in the city can beat Richard. After Alec leaves to look for more trouble, Richard meets a man with an eyepatch. Richard suspects it is Lord Tony Ferris, and the man offers him a large amount of money to kill someone important.
