Importance: After Momo and Cassia leave Junie with her grandparents in Trout River, Junie quickly grows accustomed to life in this rural environment. As soon as Momo writes to tell her she will soon join him and Cassia in the States, Junie panics. In this moment, the narrator shifts inside Junie's distinct consciousness, revealing the way she sees not only herself and her life, but the way that she understands her parents. The moment marks an awakening in Junie's consciousness, in that she suddenly becomes aware of how little she knows Momo and Cassia, and how disinterested she is in living a fantasy life with them.
As with other cases of addiction, a relapse often sent the addict more tightly into the grip of the obsession.
