Momo

Momo is one of the main characters of the novel. As a young boy, Momo grows up in Trout River with his parents. He is constantly energetic and impatient. He has little capacity to control his spirit until he discovers his love for physics at the age of 15. Physics makes him feel capable of understanding and ordering the world around him. After finishing school, Momo is the only one in his community to receive an acceptance to university. The community is thrilled that he will be studying engineering, hoping that he will return to Trout River after earning his degree, and help them develop the impoverished structures of their towns. Secretly, Momo feels weighed by this responsibility. He is most interested in attending university so that he can escape the places and people of his childhood.
