Summary

In "Hue," one day while at the park with Cyrus, Cassia met a cartoonist named Hue. Hue offered to do their portrait. While he drew, he told Cassia about his life before and after coming to the States from China. Afterwards, he gave her his card.

For reasons she could not explain, Cassia visited Hue's studio one night. While talking, an "eruption of desire" occurred between them, and they had sex (220). They started seeing each other regularly. They shared things they had never shared with anyone. One night, they went for a drive. While walking on the beach, Hue showed Cassia the carcass of a whale. Suddenly reminded of her childhood, Cassia was overcome by emotion.
