Chapter 40, I'm Sure We Should All Be as Happy as Kings Summary

Suzy is at the Palace Flophouse with the boys learning how to drive a stick shift car on a chair using bricks as pedals, and a mop handle as the stick. After two hours of practicing, Suzy returns to the laboratory ready to leave and finds Doc ready and all his gear packed in the car. Mack and the boys come by to give Doc his gift explaining it was the biggest one they could find as he realizes it is a telescope. Doc and Suzy get in the car and as Suzy drives away, Fauna wonders out loud if she would be safe putting up Suzy's star.
