Chapter 29, Oh, Woe, Woe, Woe! Summary
The day after the party everyone in Cannery Row feels awful about what happened between Suzy and Doc the night before. Everyone seems to be grieving, from Fauna to the Boys. Other than the people that were at the party, no one knows what happened because none of the guests would talk about it when asked.
Suzy goes to the Golden Poppy and begs Ella to give her a job, and asks Joe Blaikey to lend her the twenty five dollars that he offered her when he first met her. Suzy took the money and decorated the inside of the abandoned boiler across from the bear flag and made it her home. Every one in the community pretended that they couldn't see what she was doing.
Fauna goes to visit Suzy and talk. She wants...
