Chapter 8, The Great Roquet War Summary
There's a town right next to Monterey called Pacific Grove. Although this town is right next to Monterey, it is completely different with conservative laws that prohibit things such as, hijinks, alcohol, and boating on Sundays. It started as a resort and for some reason many old people moved to the town. One day, a man named Mr. Deems built two Roquet courts for the people of this town. The people of Pacific Grove loved Roquet, which was similar to croquet, only more complicated. They got so into this new sport that it created a division between the two teams, the Blues and the Greens.
