Chapters 7-8 Summary
Randall comes to Catherine's house and invites her out to the levee. Randall takes Catherine to a section of the levee where high school lovers have always congregated. Randall and Catherine talk for most of the afternoon and Catherine realizes she has feelings for Randall. Randall has always been someone Catherine was aware of since her mother and his mother were friends, but only now has she seen him as a romantic figure. Catherine feels comfortable with Randall in a way she has not felt with a man in a long time. Randall is familiar. Randall is also accepting of Catherine. Catherine has not dated much since a college date was overheard making fun of her personality, so her affection and comfort with Randall is as much a surprise to her as it might be to Randall.
