Summary

The scene opens on October 26, 2000 with Jessie slumped at a bar table as Stan works. Oscar enters and Stan immediately confronts him. Oscar has begun picking up shifts at Olstead’s plant. Stan warns him that people are tense right now, and Oscar taking that job could have negative consequences. But Oscar stands his ground, he makes much more working at the plant than he is at the bar.

Stan becomes impassioned. His good friends and family have lost their source of income. Oscar reiterates that he just wants to make a living like everyone else. He has spent years trying to get a job at that factory, only to be continuously looked over by both management and employees. The people who lost their jobs are not his friends.
