Summary
The second act begins in October of 2008. The Dow Jones is back up 936 points, a record breaking stock market gain. Worldwide government-funded bank bailouts have been approved, and Berks County, where Reading is located, has seen power shutoffs for utility customers rise 111% from the previous year. Jason is at his mother’s house. There is tension between the two, as Jason sits down on her couch.
Tracey immediately reacts to Jason’s new face tattoos with disapproval. As she hands her son five dollars, he complains that there is not more money. He had called beforehand and Tracey said she would help him. As his mother begins to explain, it becomes clear that Tracey is high. Jason confronts her about the drug issue. As Jason goes to leave, Tracey asks if he can repay the loan by tomorrow. Jason leaves the money...
