Face
The Face symbolizes the importance of appearance in the novel. Babe's mother stressed to her that one must never be seen without her Face. Although Babe's character is the only one which directly references her Face, it is a symbol which is important to every character in the novel, representing the outward appearance and display that each character assumes towards one another.
Rain
The autumn storm that rains down on C.Z. and Gloria represents the fallout that is about to occur as a result of La Côte Basque. After reading Truman's piece in Esquire, they decide to prepare for whatever Truman writes next. The storm acts as foreshadowing to the storm that tears apart Truman's inner group as a result of the publication.
