Summary
It is now the days leading up to Truman’s big gala. While Gloria is struggling to get her husband, Loel, to attend, Babe helps Truman plan the menu. He insists on a “long buffet” with all the things he loves, including spaghetti and meatballs (341). In an effort to make everyone comfortable, Truman plans to hold dinners before the event so as people do not need to show up alone. Days before the event people begin threatening Truman if they have not received an invitation to the party, and so Truman retreats to his house in Sagaponack.
On the day of the event, Kay, the guest of honor, is given the royal treatment, with hair and dress picked out and paid for by Truman. Upon seeing them, the Swans say that they looked perfect together. At the Plaza...
