Summary
The narrator now turns to the present day. Apparently, everyone in the group, aside from Babe, knew about The Sheets. The source, it turns out, came first hand from both Babe and Bill. They trusted Truman, and, just like everyone else, confided in him with their darkest of secrets.
The story turns to 1955 and tells the story of how Babe met Truman. It opens with Babe and her husband Bill, the CEO of CBS. Babe is described as a “consummate hostess,” organizing and managing the image of a perfect life (48). Babe’s family, the Paleys, were a family consumed with money and notoriety.
