Swamplandia!

Swamplandia! was the name of the alligator-themed amusement park built on one of the Ten Thousand Islands southwest of Florida by Sam Bigtree’s father. Sam and Hilola Bigtree raised their family on this island. A good deal of the action of the novel takes place on the island of Swamplandia!

The Gator Pit

The Gator Pit was the name for the alligator pit in Swamplandia! ringed by a stadium with seats for 265 tourists. It was at the Gator Pit that Hilola performed her Swimming with the Seths act.
