Summary
Ava and the Bird Man continued to travel. She worried he was angry with her. During lunch Ava talked about how her sister had been named after Seminole chieftain. The Bird Man seemed to be getting tired of Ava’s talking and her questions. At one point, however, he noticed a scrape on Ava’s knee and put medicine on it. Afterward, Ava blurted out that she loved him. Trying to make him understand, Ava told him about her mother’s show and how it was a model of love for her. The Bird Man said he’d seen posters of her mother. He commented that Ava was pretty, like her mother had been.
Late that afternoon the Bird Man ordered Ava to lie flat in the boat when he heard the outboard motor of a Park Services boat...
