Summary
When Ava received a letter in the mail she told her father it was about a contest she wanted to enter to win money. She planned to donate any money she won to her father’s new project. Ava planned to enter and win the same competition that her mother had won before she’d married Ava’s father. She remembered once Kiwi had told her that their mother had married their father too young. When Ava told their parents they laughed at the idea. The night before their tenth wedding anniversary their mother had made Ava and Ossie go to the Bigtree museum with her and made them promise they would wait until they were thirty to get married. Ava still didn’t understand what her mother had meant.
