Chapters 10, 9, 8 & 7 Summary
One night before the brothers return to Nebraska, Tender tells Adam everything he remembers from his childhood. He says he remembers the beautiful orchids, people living simple lives, everything was peaceful, and always clean. Adam becomes very angry with Tender. He cannot believe how stupid his brother is. He finally tells Tender that he was the one who turned the Creedish into the FBI. He left home one night and called the police. He told them that were was only one birth certificate for every twenty Creedish child. That started the investigation.
Tender still believes that his childhood is great. Adam becomes enraged, because Tender is still the same little boy who the Creedish taught lies. They bred him and the other tenders and biddies to do nothing but work. They could never actually enjoy life. Adam says that they made him the...
