Summary

In Chapter 7, “The Long Road Home,” no one wanted to leave on the “morning of camp departure” (181). Jarrett realized although they had all put a lot into the week, they had gotten “so much more out of it” (181).

After Jarrett said goodbye to Diego and his parents, Mrs. Gormley complimented him for how well he had done with Diego. Jarrett said he hoped “to see him again” (184). Mrs. Gormley tried explaining Diego’s fragile condition.

Jarrett said goodbye to the Orfaos, promising to visit them soon. Jason and Eric said Jarrett had been “like a big brother” (187). Jarrett started crying.

No one spoke on the drive home.
