Summary
In Chapter 2, “Ice Breakers,” Jarrett and the other “camp volunteers” had orientation while the campers and their families “settled into their bunks (40). The volunteers met the counselors including Pappa Frank, Joy, Gary, and Blaine. The camp “kept people coming back year after year” (41). The counselors welcomed the volunteers and explained their upcoming time at the camp. Jarrett talked to Joy and Gary about his one-on-one assignment. Gary said Diego’s parents were worried, and Diego would “need constant supervision” (43). Jarrett was nervous. Blaine insisted they would “show Diego an incredible week” (43).
