Summary
To celebrate the apparent sale of his tools, Tom buys an expensive bottle of alcohol from Larry’s Liquors. He recalls the time when Drew and his girlfriend, Hanna, visited him at the 8. He remembers that Drew wore an “expression filled with pity and confusion: Why are you here? (66). A week later, Hanna drove to the 8 and gave Tom a photo she had taken of him and Drew. Tom notes that, every month, he sends a small money order to Drew.
Trina and Tom share the vodka. Trina tells him that Brian, her on-and-off boyfriend, hit her; she then kicked him out. She notes that Jamey has encouraged her to get her GED.
