Behrampada

Behrampada is the name of the slum in which Rakhi lives in the narrative present. Some years prior to the novel's start, Guari Ma'am helps Rakhi find and secure her one-room hut in Behrampada. Although living here affords Rakhi more stability and autonomy than she had on the streets or in the Astra Home, she is also embarrassed to tell people this is where she lives. She knows what residing in a slum implies about her past life and present circumstances.

In the latter chapters of the novel, Jeetendra Arora hires the terrorist organization for which Babloo works to burn down Behrampada. Rakhi's neighbor and friend Tazim dies in the fire. When she learns about Jeetendra's and Babloo's involvement, she is devastated.
