Summary
In Chapter 10, Rakhi takes Alex to the Oval Maidan, where they watch a cricket match. Rakhi remembers “some NGO people from the U.K.” teaching her and other street kids to play (122). She tells Alex about watching the recent IPL match in Behrampada with her neighbors. Alex then mentions their earlier conversation about college. Rakhi says she would like to study hotel management, but wants to stay in Bombay. Alex remarks that she is “all alone in this huge city,” reminding Rakhi of something Ma’am told her (126). Then Alex reveals that Ma’am will be paying him “to be a consultant” (126). He offers Rakhi the pay in exchange for giving him tours of the city.
