Summary
In Chapter 4, at work, Rakhi returns Alex’s money, leaving it on his desk. She discovers a note in his book with her name and “search results for ‘Slum + Bandra East’” on his computer (60). She worries he is “trying to find out” where she lives (60).
Ma’am tasks Rakhi with showing Alex where to eat lunch, as the Dutch girls have left without him. She also tells Rakhi to find the interns and bring them back to the office. At the restaurant, Alex insists that Rakhi eat with him. Although worried about finding the interns, she agrees. Alex questions her about her life, excited that she is showing him the “Real India” (66). Rakhi feels uncomfortable, but says nothing. Afterwards, they find the interns at a European café. The girls reluctantly agree to return to the office, grumbling about reverse racism and Ma’am...
