Chapters Seven and Eight Summary
In Chapter Seven, Meredith leaves Nigel and thinks of her plan to be everything her father hates, in this way running him away. Her parents are still waiting on the porch. Meredith thinks of Andy waiting, hiding and praying. When her father tells her she can't go out without telling them where she's going. Meredith suggests the town was safe until he got out of jail. She goes to her room and locks the door. She hears the front door slam and looks out the window to see her father walking toward his condo. Meredith's mother does not come to her as Meredith had hoped.
In Chapter Eight, the house is quiet when Meredith wakes up but she soon realizes she is alone with her father. She tries to leave the kitchen but he stops her. She...
