Summary

Chapter 9 finds Andrea in the basement going through old supplies and notebooks from her crime-solving days. Andrea thinks of Ramon when she sees his notes alongside hers in her notebook. Jeff calls from upstairs and snaps Andrea back to reality. Later, Andrea is with Brianne and all their kids thinking about “the excitement she felt because someone had been murdered” (71). Andrea talks to Brianne’s neighbor Simpei about pool permits and the woman who denied Simpei the permit. At home, Andrea tracks down the woman and calls to ask about the groundwater reports and who denied the application: Thomas Robertson.

In Chapter 10, Kenny gets gas at the station where Satku was murdered. Kenny talks to the attendant about Satku who confirms that Satku was not involved with drugs. Kenny goes to the courthouse and sees Andrea. Kenny remembers Andrea dating Kenny’s older...
