Summary

In Episode 4, on the first Sunday of every month, Portico’s mom hosts a Cut Day. On Cut Day, she offers “haircuts for anyone in Skylight Gardens who wants one” (118). Portico always goes first. After Sasha finishes his trim, Portico does a jumbo jump off the barber chair. When it is Romello Mann’s turn, Romello sits in the chair bragging about his trip to Alabama. Fascinated, Portico asks him about flying on a plane.

After finishing another series of cuts, Sasha cuts Mr. Soup’s hair. Portico loves Mr. Soup, but does not understand his name. Soup is the “wizard of Skylight Gardens” (128). He knows everything about the building, even its “secret parts” (128). When Soup sits for his cut, Portico asks him about his name.
