Chapter 17 Summary
Sgt. Garcia's investigation takes him to the Flightpath Motel near the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. Killian's checkbook has been found in a room at the motel. Garcia correctly predicts the carpet in the room will be brown, because the Montana coroner found three brown carpet fibers under Killian's left thumbnail. Garcia learns that three Jamaicans rented the room at some point during the previous two weeks. They paid cash and checked out by midnight. The name was John Riley and the address was a post-office box in Lake Okeechobee. They wore shorts in bright colors and all had scars on their legs.
