Summary
In Chapter 18, Lazlo discovered that the Cusp really was composed of bones. Eril-Fane told Lazlo how he enjoyed Lazlo’s story about the seraphim, who the people of Weep worshipped. Calixte gave Lazlo a piece of the Cusp that she broke off as a gift. At dinner, a messenger falcon brought Eril-Fane orders from his mother, who Lazlo would stay with when they reached Weep. Eril-Fane admitted that he would not be joining the delegation to Weep for their first night because he did not sleep well in the city. In Chapter 19, the delegation finally arrived in Weep. Eril-Fane explained that there was a storm 200 years ago that formed a sphere above the city. Lazlo saw that the entire city was dark, in the shadow of the otherworldly structure in the sky. Calixte deemed Lazlo the winner of her theory contest...
