Summary
In Chapter 15, Lazlo told Calixte his theory that the seraphim had returned. He spoke about the story of the seraphim, the world’s earliest myth, and the Cusp, which was made of the fused bones of slaughtered demons. The seraphim had flown down from the sky and saved the humans from a race called the ijji which had enslaved the humans. Across camp, Thyon Nero spoke to Drave, an explosionist who had become an admirer of the famed alchemist during the trip. Thyon mocked Lazlo, saying he believed in every ridiculous fantasy. Lazlo said he liked to keep an open mind and subtly alluded to the help he offered Thyon, which led to the alchemist discovering azoth and the transmutation of gold.
Chapter 16 returns to Sarai in the citadel. Sarai complained to Feral about Minya bringing new ghosts to the citadel...
