Summary
In Chapter 4, Lazlo imagined that Shres the bastard god of fortune had gifted Thyon Nero the virtues of birth, wealth, privilege, looks, charm, and brilliance and gave Lazlo only honor. Thyon’s childhood was lavish and he gained a lot of recognition through his godmother, the queen. On Thyon’s ninth birthday, the queen requested that someone cut Thyon’s golden hair and weave it into a necklace which she wore, starting a trend of human-hair jewelry. When Thyon was 13 years old at the college of alchemy, he refused to swear an oath on an angel’s emerald as all alchemists were required to do. The master of alchemy told Thyon that he had the soul of a blacksmith, so instead, Thyon swore an oath on a blacksmith’s anvil, which he thought was more practical. When he was 15 years old...
