Chapter 18 Summary
Skink has obtained the address of the people who reported their license plates missing from Tile. Augustine speaks to the man and his wife when they arrive at the address. The man tells how a group of kids stole his plates while he was standing right there in the yard. Then the man tells Augustine how he saw the same car again later, but this time it was being driven by a white man instead of the group of black youths who had had the car before. This sighting gives Augustine, Skink, and Bonnie somewhere definitive to search for the car.
Avila's wife finds her husband in the garage, suffering a puncture wound in the groin from one of the goats he bought to sacrifice. Avila's wife takes him to the hospital to be stitched up. That same afternoon, Fred Dove tells Edie...
