Chapter 6 Summary

Skink takes Max to a remote clearing where he allows him to ask a few questions. Max wants to know who Skink really is, learning he was once governor of Florida. Max asks why Skink kidnapped him and is told Skink was appalled by him videotaping the destruction. Finally, Max asks what happens now, and Skink tells him they will continue to travel together to learn a few life lessons.

Tony attempts to seduce Edie. Edie flees across the street where a man is walking his dogs. Edie feigns interest in the dogs. The man tells Edie she should take the dogs and leave. The man has business with Tony Torres. In Edie's absence, the man, who is actually Ira Jackson, confronts Tony with the murder of his mother. Tony argues his innocence, turning his gun on Ira.
