Chapter 2 Summary

Edie and her partner, Snapper, take rooms in a motel thirty miles from the expected path of the hurricane. During the night, Edie becomes frightened by the storm and goes to Snapper's room, where she discovers he has managed to procure a prostitute. The three of them spend the night together. The next day, Edie and Snapper attempt to find the home they picked out the day before to use in their scam. However, the storm has so damaged the area that they get lost and decide to pick another. Once the house is chosen, Edie poses under a bunch of debris, cutting herself with a nail to make the scene look authentic. Snapper calls for help when the scene is set.
