The Other Woman Summary
Rose is still living at home with her mother and father when she gets word that her mother has died after being run over by a lorry. She sends word to her father, Jem, then writes a letter to her boyfriend George, though her father says that she should telephone where he works because they could get him a message immediately. George receives the letter and is angry that she hadn't called him. He now realizes that there have been several instances over the three years of his engagement with Rose when he feared that she might be reluctant to marry him. Now the date's been set for the following week, and George's first fear is that she'll use this to delay the wedding. George rushes to Rose's house as soon as he gets the letter the day after...
