Dex picks Adeline up in a Belvedere convertible. They drive to the Ice Garden where they are greeted by name and welcomed by everyone from the valet to the maitre d'. Dex and Adeline dance until Killheffer comes in. He talks to Dex, offering him a way out in the way of a hypodermic needle filled with green fluid. Killheffer tells him that if he kills Mondrian, he can have the syringe. He claims that Mondrian is a computational loop. Dex goes up to the room Mondrian is in, but Mondrian gets the better of him and the only thing that saves him is the arrival of Adeline who shoots but then discovers that Mondrian isn't the victim.
