Summary
In Part One, “Sister,” “Gorgoneion,” although Medusa is perceived as a monster, the Gorgoneion believes Perseus and other such heroes are the real monsters.
In “Panopeia,” the Panopeia, or nymphs, describe Perseus’s journey from one landscape to the next.
In “Metis,” Hera was furious with Zeus for sleeping with Metis. Metis changed her appearance to protect herself. Hera was envious because Metis had “advised” and “aided Zeus” many times over the years (9). “The second time Zeus” visited Metis, he swallowed her and her daughter (12).
In “Sthenno,” Sthenno and Euryale were Gorgon sisters. They lived on an island together. Although they “were immortal” and “had no need for food,” the Gorgons’s bodies “were designed” to hunt (13).
